Even when his disciples did not cooperate with him, as in the Gethsemane garden, he still loved. I'm trying to offer what has worked best for me as a father of two boys, and am grateful to have others weigh in. We all have to find strategies to manage tasks, both our own and our children's. Oh! I forgot to say in this post that I use my alarm on my iphone often, and my boys do too, when I'm into one thing I need to finish a second thing. For example, when I'm in charge of laundry, or when my boys forget to take trash out on Sunday night for Monday pick up (they are quite consistent now, due to their every Sunday alarm!). The good thing about alarms on the iphone is that I can say it to Siri, and alarms will not respect Do Not Disturb (which begins for me at 7:30 pm until about 7am), so the reminder comes right on time, every time! Please keep reading, commenting and sharing. I read some organizing advice today that ties in to this. When you are trying to clean up one room and on the way to putting something away, you end up in the garage or bathroom or closet, then you start organizing in there. Not supposed to do that. For efficiency and success, make a mental note that the garage, bathroom, closet, etc. also needs cleaned up and go directly back to cleaning what you were cleaning. Stay on task. So that you can get something accomplished and feel successful. It is important to feel successful. I believe most of what we learn about how to "do" life is caught, not taught.

Thank you again for commenting, I really appreicate knowing how this is landing. I will strive to be transparent and vulnerable, as I see that is lacking on the web and social media.

With gratitude,
Michaelpluvsterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06963248428350865649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215298331826962019.post-27780862000080012602020-10-24T18:00:34.135-06:002020-10-24T18:00:34.135-06:00I appreciate the transparency of the blog. My dad ...I appreciate the transparency of the blog. My dad was hunting for work after being fired, when I was 16. He had 4 teenagers and loads of responsibilities. I've often looked back at his struggle and decided that my path looks "easier than that!" As I've struggled myself through a number of occupational transitions over the years, I've considered the impact of my kids watching how I handle events and opportunities, as they've also been on the job hunt the last few years too. Faithful efforts filtered through a solid evaluation typically produce desired results. It's the real friends and family (and Church family) who stick with you, encourage, advise and even help with necessities, that will make all the difference in these times of deep personal and financial struggle. So, for now, besides normalizing conversations about God and scripture, relationships is key, and another thing is to create and maintain conversations with other parents. Ask someone to mentor you as a dad. Collect questions over time to ask people, both mothers and fathers, so you are ready when you get a chance. Thank you for your question/comment, please keep coming back for more! I hope over time this blog provides lots of inspiration for your question! More comments means more honesty and more community, I hope. pluvsterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06963248428350865649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5215298331826962019.post-26614599207266708382020-10-18T05:59:53.424-06:002020-10-18T05:59:53.424-06:00Sup!
